No fewer than four people have been allegedly injured in a gas explosion in Lagos on Monday morning.
Reports revealed that the incident happened in the early hour of Monday, beside the Apostolic Church, Ijaiye Agege in Lagos State, where a shop stored with gas cylinders got exploded as a result of gas leakage.
According to the preliminary report by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, one of the gas cylinders in the shop which was leaking got exploded and caught fire in the process.
Meanwhile, the shop was badly damaged while other shops and adjoining buildings were excluded from the ugly incident.
However, reports show that while no life was lost, three women and one man sustained various degrees of injuries (second-degree burns) and they are being currently attended to by the Agency’s prehospital care, alongside LASAMBUS.
LASEMA Director-General, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyitolu who confirmed the incident stated that the victims have been transferred to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.
“The victims have also been moved to Lagos University Teaching Hospital LASUTH
“The inferno has been completely put out by the combined effort of LASEMA LRT, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.”
“A post-incident assessment was conducted by the Agency’s LRT alongside LASG Fire.
“The shop has been cordoned off to avert a secondary incident,” the LASEMA boss said.
