The corpse of a 57-year-old woman simply identified as Mrs Jamiu Sikirat who fell into a well and drowned has been discovered in Ilorin by a team of firefighters on Monday.
The woman who resides in the Ile-Agunko compound of Adeta area Ilorin, Ilorin West Local Government Area reportedly fell into the well on Monday evening around 6:42 pm.
The state fire service spokesman, Hassan Adekunle explained that the service got a notification via telephone from one Muhammad Jamiu who lives around where the incident occurred.
The service spokesman said that the corpse was recovered from the well and handed over to the family in the presence of other authorities.
“Firemen were able to recover the dead body from the well and later handed it over to one Alfa Abdulganiyu Akuko, a family member of the deceased, in the presence of Nigerian police officers from Adewole Division Ilorin,” he said.
Report has it that the deceased woman went to fetch water at the well before one of her legs slipped off the ground and eventually tumbled into the well.
The Director of Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, frowned at the ugly incident and enjoined the general public to be .ore careful in their day-to-day activities.
