In order to teach his family a lesson about staying in touch, 45-year-old David Baerten faked his own death and flew a helicopter to his own funeral in Belgium.
According to DailyMail on Wednesday, Baerten, a TikTok creator, notified his wife and children about his plan, and they assisted him by posting it on social media.
One of Baerten’s daughters deceived her father’s social media followers by stating, “Rest in peace, Daddy.” I will never forget about you.
“Why is life so unfair? Why you? You were going to be a grandfather, and you still had your whole life ahead of you. I love you! We love you! We will never forget you.”
After the family had organised a funeral, Baerten flew in on a helicopter with a crew of cameramen to film the funeral proceedings.
Baerten said he acted this way to test his family’s reaction after he said they had stopped talking to him because he had cut ties with them.
He said, “What I see in my family often hurts me. I never get invited to anything. Nobody sees me. We all grew apart. I felt unappreciated.
“That’s why I wanted to give them a life lesson and show them that you shouldn’t wait until someone is dead to meet up with them.”
