The Guinness World Records has affirmed Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci, as the latest record holder for the longest cooking marathon in the world by an individual for 93 hours 11 minutes.
Hilda began her record-breaking cook-a-thon on Thursday, May 11 and ended on Monday night at around 8pm, attempting to set a new world record of 100 hours marathon cooking.
The previous record holder, Lata Tandon, an Indian, held the record for 87 hours 54 minutes in 2019, and until now, there had been no challenge to her record.
Meanwhile, earlier on Monday, May 15, the Guinness Book of Records had acknowledged Baci’s laudable effort, in response to an inquiry by a tweep, named, Alexander, seeking to know why Baci’s success was yet to be acknowledged by the Guinness World Records.
Alexander wrote, “Why is Guinness World Records not showing or talking about Hilda’s cook-a-thon? Can’t see anything on their pages (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube).”
In response to the inquiry, the Guinness Book of Records wrote on their official Twitter handle, “We’re aware of this amazing record attempt, we need to review all the evidence first before officially confirming a record.”
On Tuesday, June 13, Guinness World Record declared Hilda Baci as the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
The notice read, “After reviewing all the footage, we’re delighted to announce that Hilda Baci is the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon (individual) 💫
