The Nigeria Police Force, Rivers State command has reportedly arrested a vigilante group leader over alleged involvement in armed robbery at a border town between Rivers and Imo State.
This was made known by the chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Samuel Wanosike to the commissioner of police, during a stakeholders’ meeting on the activities of vigilante operatives in Rivers held in Port Harcourt last Thursday.
According to PMNews, the LG chairman said that the vigilante leader was arrested for murder last year but he was mysteriously released from custody.
Report has it that the vigilante leader was arrested last Wednesday and is cooling off in the police net within one of its tactical units.
Following the complaint by the Local Government Chairman, CP Emeka inquired from members of his management team in the meeting where the suspect was being kept.
However, the state police commission did not reveal more information during the meeting.
