Abia State governor’s wife, Mrs Priscilla Otti has paid a visit to the girls rescued from a baby factory last weekend.
The pregnant girls who were rescued from a baby factory at Umunkpeyi Nvosi in Isiala Ngwa South LGA on, the weekend, by men of the Nigerian Army from the 14 Brigade Ohafia during a special operation were receiving medical attention at Madonna College of Health Technology, Olokoro, Umuahia South LGA.
According to Daily Post, 22 girls were rescued by the Army from the baby factory.
About 21 of them were at various stages of pregnancy.
However, the owner of the baby factory had disappeared to an unknown destination before the arrival of the Army team.
The state’s First Lady frowned at the condition which the girls were subjected to.
She assured that the girls would be rehabilitated while expressing surprise that such a heinous crime was being perpetrated in Abia.
She restated the government’s commitment to protect the lives and rights of girls and children in the State.
Before her speech, the Provost of the College, Rev Fr Christian Anokwuru praised the Abia First Lady for her interest in the rescued girls.
Fr Anokwuru disclosed that the girls were being kept in the maternity section of the College of Health after they were brought there by the Abia State government.
She added that one of the girls had been delivered.
