The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s zonal command office in Ilorin, Kwara State, is currently questioning a former governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi.
The Punch reported that according to reliable sources with knowledge of the issue, Fayemi arrived at the EFCC premises on Thursday, around 9:40 am.
“Fayemi arrived at our Kwara command office this morning at about 9:40 am. Our agents are currently questioning him on the suspected N4 billion theft,” a source said.
According to reports, this probe relates to how finances were handled while Fayemi served as the governor of Ekiti state.
Fayemi, a member of the All Progressives Congress, served as governor of the state from 2018 to 2022.
He handed over leadership to Biodun Oyebanji after Oyebanji won the governorship election in June 2022.
