Activist, Reno Omokri, has made controversial statements linking well-known Nigerian activist and former government minister, Oby Ezekwesili, to the deadly attack on a U.S. Embassy convoy.
The attack claimed the lives of multiple U.S. embassy staff and policemen.
Omokri suggested that Ezekwesili’s lack of condemnation reveals her sympathies and questions her selective response to killings.
“Now that IPOB/ESN members have been arrested for perpetrating the deadly attack on a U.S. Embassy convoy that killed multiple U.S. embassy staff and policemen, we can now understand why Oby Ezekwesili did not condemn the killings, which happened in her own state and near her own local government area, even as she is known for quickly condemn killings that occur outside the Southeast.
“IPOby Ezekwesili could not condemn it because she knows where her sympathies lie. After all, dogs don’t eat dogs!”
The tweet implied that the recent arrest of members of the Indigenous People of Biafra and Eastern Security Network provides an understanding of Ezekwesili’s silence on the attack, which occurred in her own state and near her local government area.
Omokri added that her silence stems from her allegiances. However, it is important to note that no evidence is provided to support these assertions.
Furthermore, the tweet raised the issue of Ezekwesili’s response to previous incidents, including her alleged lack of condemnation regarding the killing of a pregnant woman by unknown gunmen in broad daylight, with her four underaged daughters, Fatima, 9; Khadijah, 7; Hadiza, 5; and Zaituna, 2.
He wrote; “This is the same Oby that danced naked in the streets when Deborah Samuel was burnt to death, but has remained silent TILL TODAY after a pregnant Northerner from Adamawa, Harira Jubril, was killed by unknown gunmen in broad daylight, with her four underaged daughters, Fatima, 9; Khadijah, 7; Hadiza, 5; and Zaituna, 2.
These claims attempted to draw comparisons between the incidents Ezekwesili has spoken out against and those she allegedly remained silent on.
He went on to reference Ezekwesili’s involvement in the #BringBackOurGirls movement and her accusations of “ethnic baiting” in the Southwest during the Nigerian elections.
“The same Oby that rolled on the floor in front of Aso Rock over #BringBackOurGirls. Yet, she never condemned the killing of Ahmed Gulak on May 31, 2021, or the multiple kidnappings and killings of civilians, military and paramilitary personnel all over the Southeast.”
“This is the person who falsely accused the Southwest of “ethnic baiting” against Igbos during #NigerianElections2023, yet said nothing of the videos of people being attacked for daring to vote for either the PDP or Labour Party in the Southeast.”
These references, while seemingly unrelated to the initial claim, attempt to paint a broader picture of Ezekwesili’s alleged biases.
He finally added: “I hope the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria and the State Department in Washington, DC pay close attention to IPOby and her behaviour during this saga.”
