The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) has commiserated the family of Nigeria’s first Professor of Geology, Aremo Professor Mosobalaje Oyawoye who died on Monday at age of 95.
Buhari conveyed his condolence in a statement issued by his spokesman, Mr Garba Shehu, described the deceased as an astute scholar who had immensely contributed to development of the nation.
The president said, “He was steadfastly committed to the progress of the nation.”
Sending his condolence message to the family of the deceased and clans in Offa, Kwara State, Buhari expressed his sadness that the nation had, of late, “been losing elder statesmen and indeed great men who have accomplished so much and impacted hugely on the lives of many Nigerians.
Almighty Allah knows best. May they rest in peace.
“My thoughts are with the family of the deceased, his friends and the countless admirers he left behind in this hour of grief.
“The nation will miss him immensely. May his soul rest in peace”.
