As some parts of the country have witnessed heavy rainfall as many times as possible in 2023, Jigawa State welcomed the first rainfall of the year, on Sunday evening and night.
Reports revealed that the development was welcomed amidst observed toys and excitement in almost all parts of the state.
According to the residents of the state, the rain was a big relief for everyone after about a month of sufferings from the hot weather and mosquito bites.
However, the rain that occurred differently in some parts of the state on Sunday evening and night, lasted for about 15 to 30 minutes.
According to Mahama Aisha, a housewife in Ringim town, the rainfall cooled the hot temperature experienced in the area for a long time.
“With this development, we now slept indoors comfortably without being disturbed by the hot weather,” she said.
A small-scale farmer, Mallam Abdullahi, who spoke to the newsmen in Dutse, expressed excitement over the development, noting that although the rain is a little bit late compared to last year’s wet season, he had already cleared his farm and was waiting for the rain.
“If the rain continues like that I am sure in some days we will commence planting in good time,” he said.
However, He urged the government to prepare for the rainy season, support farmers and take necessary measures, to prevent flooding.
