Not fewer than two have been killed as Afghanistan’s air force chopper crashes in northern Samangan province on Sunday.
The defence ministry confirmed that the two killed are pilots of the crashed helicopter.
In a statement made available by the defence ministry on Twitter, the chopper was on a patrol mission and struck on a power line.
The incident which occurred around 9:00 am in the Khalm district of Samangan province led to the loss of lives of the two pilots.
“An MD-530 model chopper of the Air Force was on patrol mission when it struck a power transmission line in Khalm district of Samangan province at 09:00 a.m. local time today and crashed and resultantly two pilots were martyred,” the Defense Ministry tweeted.
While condoling with the bereaved families, the defence ministry has launched an investigation into the accident.
