Afrobeats star, Davido has renewed his multi-million dollar contract with Sony Music Entertainment.
The ‘OBO’ crooner made this known through a social media post.
“I’m grateful to officially announce that I have extended my partnership with @sonymusic & @RCARecords, so we can keep bringing you more TIMELESS moments. We don’t stop, Dey for who dey for you,” he wrote.
The musician inked a $1 million record deal with the label in New York City in 2016.
Davido disclosed that Efe Ogbeni, the American music executive of Nigerian descent, carried out the transaction.
He also declared himself the “first African artist to sign a global record deal” on Twitter.
“1st African artist to sign a global record deal !! My story is just starting!! My mother is smiling in heaven right now!! @SonyMusicGlobal,” he had written.
In 2018, the singer, however, disclosed that he had to stop recording the type of songs Sony Music wanted because they did not align with him.
