No fewer than 16 suspects were on Friday paraded by the Ekiti State police command for various criminal activities including four men who were nabbed allegedly for kidnapping activities in the Oke Ako area of the state and parts of Kwara State.
According to The PUNCH, the state Commissioner of Police Dare Ogundare, said that the police in Ekiti, in conjunction with Kogi State Police Command, arrested one Abu Hassan, popularly known as Danger and Abubakar Sodiq who are notorious kidnappers and have been terrorizing innocent citizens around Iyemero/Oke-Ako/Irele/Ipao-Ekiti Axis.
Ogundare, who said kidnap victims in the Oke Aki axis identified Danger, said “One locally made single barrel gun and two live cartridges were recovered from the suspects. Effort is ongoing for the possible arrest of other fleeing suspects.”
Ogundare said that operatives of the command also arrested One Umar Hassan and Yusuf Lawal for allegedly storming Ayenco area, Eda-Ile-Ekiti and kidnapping one Ajayi Mary Olajumoke, who was released after a ransom was allegedly paid, adding that upon arrest of the suspects, two cutlasses and a cash sum of N82,200, which was part of the ransom collected, were recovered from them.
He assured that the command under him would always rise up to its responsibility to perform its mandatory and statutory duty of protection of lives and properties of innocent citizens, said that the suspects would be charged to court on completion of Investigations.
