Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, has promised to cooperate fully with the police after the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, ordered his arrest.
Punch Metro reported that the IGP ordered the Afrobeat singer’s arrest after a video showing him assault a policeman surfaced on social media on Saturday.
Following the order for his arrest, Kuti wrote on his Instagram story, “I welcome the investigation and will give my full cooperation! I also pray to the IG that whoever is wrong should be indicted.”
In the video that emerged on Saturday, Kuti was seen slapping and pushing the unidentified police officer at Third Mainland bridge.
In a statement by the force spokesperson, the IGP ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to arrest the singer“The IGP has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.
“IGP Usman Alkali Baba assures Nigerians that acts of contempt/disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated while offenders of such hideous crimes will be surely brought to book,” Adejobi said in a statement.
