The Police Service Commission has approved wage payments for 2021/2022 police recruits who have graduated from Police Colleges and are in police jobs.
The News Agency of Nigeria reported in a statement released on Sunday in Abuja that the PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, stated as much.
He claimed these recruits had been working without pay for the previous six months in a variety of police commands and formations.
The approval of the payment, according to Ani, was made in the interest of national security and was based on the necessity of amicably resolving the ongoing recruitment disputes between the PSC and the Nigerian Police Force.
The PSC representative claimed that the problem has caused the Police Constables a great deal of stress.
He added that the decision was also made in response to protests and requests from Nigerians on the fact that the police recruits for the class of 2021/2022 had not yet been registered in the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).
“The class has not received pay for six months after graduating from police colleges and being properly posted to police commands and formations for actual police service,” according to the allegation.
Ani reported that the commission had informed the Accountant General of the Federation of its approval for the enrolment of 1007 hired police personnel in the 2021/2022 batch into the IPPIS payment system.
