Kano State Police Command has arrested one Ibrahim Musa, a boy who allegedly stabbed his mother to death at Rimin Kebe Quarters of Ungogo local government area of the state.
The Public Relations Officer for the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna, had in a statement on Friday, explained that the suspect was apprehended in his hideout in Dawakin Tofa’s local government area of the state.
The statement revealed that the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of investigations, noting that he has confessed to the crime.
However, a source explained that the suspect had been away from his mother, for more than a year without visiting, noting that he was seen around his mother’s vicinity, around 5:30 pm on the day of the incident.
The report revealed that the suspect had been living with his father at Kurna, following his prolonged mental health issue.
Explaining the incident, the source said, “The moment he entered he just asked of her, she was not around but he demanded she be called because she was in the neighbourhood.”
However, he explained that the mother gave him a warm welcome, noting that he was inside, listening to them, but the moment she opened the door, he heard her shouting and he quickly came out and saw him with a knife, claiming that the suspect attempted to attack him as well, but he ran away and that’s when people gathered because they saw him going out suspiciously as he threw the knife outside and ran away.
He explained further that she (the deceased) used to visit him whenever she had a bad nightmare about him, adding that she barely escapes being killed the last time she went there, saying that he chased her, but she ran to hide in a room while he was held by the the neighbour.
He explained at the incident happened during the month of Ramadan and that was the last time she saw him until he came around, on the day of the incident.
