A newly wedded bride, Samantha Miller, has been killed by a drunk driver identified as Jamie Lee Komoroski in the US.
It was reported that Samantha was killed by a Komoroski who slammed into the newlywed’s golf cart on a South Carolina beach.
The Charleston County coroner’s office reports that the 34-year-old bride who had just gotten married hours earlier died in the golf cart accident which also left three people injured, including the groom, who is in critical condition in the hospital.
According to The Guardian, the groom’s mother has set up a GoFundMe to raise money for her son’s hospital expenses and her daughter-in-law’s funeral costs.
Data from the suspect’s rental car showed Jamie Lee Komoroski was travelling at 65 mph (105 km/h) and only momentarily applied the brakes before colliding with the golf cart, according to investigators.
Komoroski, aged 25, has been accused of committing reckless vehicular homicide and three instances of driving under the influence which resulted in fatalities.
Also, the defendant is potentially subject to a maximum sentence of 25 years of imprisonment for each charge.
As of Monday afternoon, the accused individual was detained in the Charleston County detention centre, and there is no indication in the records as to whether or not legal representation has been secured.
