Students of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Ondo State, on Friday, staged a protest against the institution’s negligence of students’ welfare on the part of the management.
According to The PUNCH, the protesters, blocked the main gate of the college as well as the Ondo-Ore Expressway, alleging that the management of the institution was insensitive to their plight.
For several hours, there was a traffic congestion on the busy expressway while the protest lasted.
According to them, the management failed to provide water and electricity for them, in spite of the exorbitant levy they were paying.
The students took out their empty buckets to show their grievances and were singing various solidarity songs.
One of the protesters, who simply identified himself as Sola said the management had failed in its responsibility, declaring that the protest would continue until the school did the needful.
“We are paying the school for all these and yet we are lacking amenities, no water, no electricity, to study is very difficult. So the school should attend to our request unless the protest would continue.”
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mrs Seto Olatuyi, said the management would attend to the demands of the students.
“Management is working on the issues raised,” she stated.
