Registration for direct entry has now been postponed till April 28th, according to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.
The board underlined in a statement on Monday that the extension is in line to provide holders of Cambridge A/Level certificates the time to finish their registration. The statement was signed by the Head of Public Affairs, Fabian Benjamin.
Remember that the Board updated its DE registration platform following a number of A/Level result falsification revelations to ensure, among other things, that only certificates with verifiable processes are permitted as entry requirements for the DE exercise.
The DE registration procedure, which started on March 20 and was supposed to end on April 2023, has been extended by one week starting from Friday, April 21, 2023, according to the statement.
“This extension is partly to give all holders of Cambridge A/Level Certificates, who were unable to register for the exercise because of some issues associated with the verification of their certificates, another opportunity to do so, as well as to accommodate others, who wish to register but were unable to do so within the stipulated time,” according to the announcement.”
The representative noted that the board and the British Council were working together to create a verification portal so that its Cambridge Certificates could be verified easily.
He claimed that in order to speed up the procedure, a number of credentials that are accepted for DE registration had been added.
“The British Council and the Board are collaborating, and as a result, the British Council will offer a verification gateway to enable the seamless verification of its Cambridge Certificates gained with other types of A/Level certificates. The Board decided to change its mind on not including the Cambridge certificate for DE registration in light of the Council’s offer of a verification portal.
“As a result, all Cambridge Certificate holders who choose to register for the 2023 Direct Entry may do so at any of the Board offices that are closest to them.
As “Awaiting Results” would not be allowed, he said, “This consideration does not in any way encompass candidates awaiting Cambridge Certificates.”
