Many people have been feared dead after suspected herdsmen reportedly attacked one of the Internal Displaced Persons camp the Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue.
According to Channels, the incident has been confirmed by the spokesperson of the Benue police command, DSP Sewuese Anene.
The incident which occured on Friday evening was said to have claimed many lives at the IDP camps, however the casualty figure is yet to be determined.
DSP Sewuese went on to say that the commissioner of police, Wale Abasse, will visit the scene of the attack very early in the morning to clarify what transpired and the casualty statistics, but that a response team has already been dispatched to the area.
This attack came after the killing of a traditional ruler in Benue’s Apa Local Government Area earlier this week, along with many others, before the attackers moved to the Otukpo Local Government Area on Wednesday, killing 46 people, including the local government chairman’s 33-year-old son, and now this at an IDP camp in Makurdi, the state capital.
