The Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa is interested in building with the National Youth Service Corps to train Nigerian graduates living abroad for nation building.
According to The Punch, Director-General of DTCA, Rabiu Dagari, expressed this during a courtesy visit to NYSC National Directorate Headquarters, in Maitama, Abuja.
Rabiu added that many Nigerian graduates abroad want to return to Nigeria and contribute to its development.
He asked the NYSC to help facilitate this process and also mentioned that there are other areas of collaboration the NYSC could explore with the DTCA, the African Development Bank and the Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission.
The NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, responded that the NYSC has discussed ways to maximize the potential of Nigerian graduates for the benefit of the nation, and would study the DTCA’s proposal in accordance with the NYSC Act before making a decision.
He assured his visitor that the scheme would key into the DTCA’s proposal after studying it in line with the NYSC Act.
In the words of the NYSC Director, “We’ll do our best to work in accordance with the NYSC Act.”
