The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Akalu Baba has directed the state commissioners of police to deploy police personnel and operational assets to strategic places within areas of their responsibilities across the federation to intensify security during Easter celebration.
Daily Post reported that the police boss also called on the supervising zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to improve on the intensive and proactive visibility patrol at all worship centres, train stations, highways, motor parks, airports, waterways, recreation centres, banks and other financial institutions.
Baba stated further that necessary preventative measures should be observed to ensure a crime-free and peaceful environment for religious, cultural and other socio-economic activities meant to set the minds of the general public at rest.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja, noted further that in-depth security checks and patrols of all public spaces and essential government assets should be maintained.
The IG, however, that all officers and men deployed for these assignments must be appropriately coordinated for professionalism and courteousness to endure the citizens abide by the law but decisively deal with criminal elements with plots to undemine security architecture during the Easter celebration.
