The Federal Government has declared Friday and Monday as holidays in commemoration of Easter celebrations.
This was announced by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, on Wednesday in Abuja.
In his message, Aregbesola urged Christians to imitate Jesus Christ’s qualities of selflessness, unity, forgiveness, kindness, love, peace, and patience as demonstrated by His earthly ministry.
The minister also urged Christians and other Nigerians to embrace the occasion of the Easter holiday this year to pray for an end to the country’s security challenges.
Aregbesola said, “Security is everyone’s business, a s a result, I implore both Nigerians and foreigners living in our nation to show strong civic virtue and selflessness by aiding the security forces in bringing about peace and securing the lives and property of the people.”
The minister gave the assurance that the Federal Government is taking all necessary steps to guarantee a peaceful transfer of power following the peaceful election process.
He also urged Christians to love their neighbors by performing deeds of kindness and showing generosity of spirit, with the wealthy giving their possessions with those who are less fortunate around them. He wishes Christians at home and in the Diaspora a joyful and peaceful Easter celebration.
Once more, Aregbesola reassured Nigerians that the country is continuously on the path to greatness and urges all to positively deploy their creative energy for the full realisation of the coming prosperity.
