Three person has been reported dead while 13 others injured after a commercial bus caught fire in Kano State.
According to The PUNCH, this was disclosed through a press statement issued by the service Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi.
He stated that the commercial vehicle, a Toyota Hiace bus with the registration number XE 222 TRN, caught fire near the Government Technical College in the state’s Nassarawa Local Government Area.
He stated that the incident occurred when the bus traveling from Ajingi LGA to Kofar Wambai caught fire.
According to the statement, firefighters and Federal Road Safety Corps officers effectively extinguished the fire and rescued the majority of the casualties.
Surayya Umar and Zeenai Babaji were two of the names given by Abdullahi, who said that three of the ladies in the bus had been burned beyond recognition.
The remaining 13 victims, who had varying degrees of injuries, according to Abdullahi, were transferred to Kano’s Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for care.
He claimed that the bus conductor Hassan Danladi, 30, and the driver, Muhammad Gali, 35, were also freed from harm and given to the police.
The fire service official urged drivers to exercise caution, blaming the crash on exceeding the speed limit and a ruptured rear tire.
