The operatives of Adamawa State Police Command have arrested two local hunters for parading themselves as officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Balkari village of Hong Local Government Area.
The duo, Abdulrazaq Bindow, 29 and Ismaila Alim, 27, have been identified as residents of Maiha LGA.
Daily Post reported that, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Suleiman Nguroje, in a statement, on Tuesday noted that the suspects had in the early hours of March 2, 2023, armed themselves with guns and invaded Balkari village, wearing NDLEA uniforms.
Nguroje explained that the command intercepted the suspects on the fateful day, March 2, and recovered two pump action guns, 11 live cartridges, handcuffs, leg chains, and jackets from them.
The police stated that the fake officers convinced the villagers they were personnel of the NDLEA, arrested three of the villagers, Amos Daniel, Kwada Fitagu and Gambo Zira and put them in handcuffs.
The villagers then informed the police when they suspected the actions of the hunters. The Police in swift reaction nabbed the two of them.
He said investigations conducted revealed that the suspects are members of the Adamawa State chapter of the Hunters Association of Nigeria.
The statement reads, “The CP directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the investigation and ensure all their collaborators are arrested and prosecuted”. the police statement said.
