Five bandits has been reportedly killed in Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State by the troops of One Division, Nigerian Army.
According to The News Agency of Nigeria, this was disclosed by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations of the Division, Lt-Col Musa Yahaya, through a Press Statement on Friday.
He stated that the troops operating in the LGA had carried out a clearance operation on the road Kanti-Tantatu in the general area of the Kubusu forest and Kaso hills in the state as part of the ongoing campaign against bandits and other criminal elements terrorizing the North Western region of the country.
“To deprive bandits and criminals freedom of action so as to create an enabling environment for economic activities and legitimate businesses to strive.”
He said the operation, which lasted from early on Thursday until early on Friday, dealt a serious blow to the criminals, neutralizing five outlaws and seizing four AK-47 rifles, six AK-47 magazines, and 24 7.62mm rounds.
Additional items were two handsets, three motorcycles, a matchet, and a few charms.
Maj.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, who is also the Force Commander of Joint Task Force Operation, Whirl Punch, and the General Officer Commanding One Division of the Nigerian Army, reportedly expressed satisfaction with how the soldiers had behaved and praised their dedication and fortitude throughout the operation.
Also, he asked people to keep providing the military and other security organizations with reliable and useful information that would help them in their efforts to combat criminal elements.
