Assistant Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has been appointed by the Police Service Commission as a Deputy Inspector of Police.
According to The PUNCH, this was disclosed in a press statement issued by the Head, Press and Public Relations, PSC, Ikechukwu Ani, on Tuesday evening.
It was gathered that Egbetokun, who will be replacing the outgoing DIG Babatunde Kokumo, is expected to represent the South West geopolitical zone of the country.
Also, 24 CPs were promoted to AIG status by the PSC, while 33 DCPs were elevated to their permanent CP positions.
In addition, the commission green-lighted promotions for a total of 61 Inspectors to Assistant Superintendents II, 118 Chief Superintendents of Police to Deputy Commissioners of Police, 316 Superintendents of Police to Chief Superintendents, and 37 Assistant Commissioners of Police to Deputy Commissioners of Police.
Also, 4,449 ASPs II were confirmed and promoted to the substantive level of ASP I after consideration and approval by the PSC.
The elevation of another 300 senior police officers of various grades was also approved by the commission.
