Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim bin Hamas Al Thani, is set to launch a world record bid for English Premier League side, Manchester United on Wednesday evening.
According to Skysport, it is expected that there will be more than five bids for the premier league side.
Although Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are the front-runners, there is yet no clear favorite.
The biggest first-round offers valued the club at about £4.5 billion, which is far less than the Glazer family’s £6 billion asking price.
Elliott Management is one of the other bidders that has come forward; Ares, MSD Partners, and Oaktree Capital are also rumored to be interested.
There is no assurance that the Glazers will sell United, and they may choose to sell a minority part and use the proceeds to pay down debt and invest for growth.
The Raine group and the Glazers will review the fresh proposals and make their next move in about a week.
