Nigerian club side, Rivers United of Portharcourt has advanced to the quarter final of the 2022/2023 CAF Confederation Cup competition.
Rivers United on Sunday played a 2-2 draw with the Diables Noirs of Congo Brazzaville at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
As a result, they now have 10 points and can maintain their lead over the ASEC Mimosas, who are in second place and have the same number of points, by virtue of goals differential.
With five points and third place in the group, Diables Noirs’ prospects of qualifying rested on Ivorian team ASEC losing to DC Motema Pembe.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the Nigerian team simply needs a draw in the encounter between ASEC and Rivers United on match day six to determine which team won the group.
