Four hoodlums armed with a knife and pistols on their way to polling units in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, have been apprehended by Nigerian soldiers.
The arrest took place at Sapon in Abeokuta South Local Government Area, during the Governorship and State House Assembly Elections.
According to TheWill, one of the soldiers at the scene disclosed that the men were carrying dangerous weapons, including a gun and a knife.
The soldier, who did not have his name on his badge, explained that soldiers are tough on individuals for a reason, and they do not punish people unnecessarily.
He said, “When you see soldiers being hard on anyone, he is not just punishing anyone.”
He further questioned why anyone would need a gun or a knife at a polling unit and assured that soldiers would apprehend anyone even if they escape the police.
“We arrested four people with gun and knife. What are they doing with the gun and knife at the polling unit?
“I ask you, can you tell me what a voter wants to do with a gun and a knife.
“If they escape from police, they cannot escape from soldiers, we will catch them.”
Meanwhile, another suspected hoodlum was caught and made to do a frog jump under the Sapon bridge by security officers.
