A group of suspected Fulani herdsmen, numbering about 40 were said to have stormed Sobe community in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State killing a pastor and two others in the farm and injured many.
Report has it that herdsmen have perpetual kept attacking the community and the latest made it the fifth time this year.
Narrating the ordeal to the press, a community source disclosed that “the people of Sobe community in Owan West Local government area of Edo State have suffered another attack today following the renewed hostility of Fulani herdsmen in the area.
“A pastor and two of his workers were killed while they were working in their farm land around Eti Oseh Road, which links to Saboginda Ora.”
According to Nigerian Tribune, the source further disclosed that effort of the Edo State Security Network to rescue the victims before they died proved abortive as the herdsmen numbering 40 open fire on the rescue team and most of them escaped with various degree of bullet injuries.
The Governor Godwin Obaseki and Edo State commissioner of police have been called on to come to the aid of the people in the community to avert another attack.
However, findings have revealed that due to the continuous attack on the community, many residents have abandoned their property for safety.
Edo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, said the report of the attack was yet to get to the Command but assured that efforts would be made to reach the DPO of the community for more information.
