A tanker transporting volatile liquid gas exploded on US-15 in Frederick, Maryland, US, on Friday, March 4, 2023, leaving one person dead and numerous cars and homes damaged.
The driver of the truck was not lucky as he was consumed by the incident that left many homes badly affected in a suburban neighborhood, forcing the closure of route 15, in both directions near Rosemont Avenue.
According to the Maryland state police, the accident involved only a single truck, which caused the death of the unknown driver of the vehicle.
However, a fire official, Frederick County, stated that other two people sustained injuries, during the crash.

In a tweet, Gov. Wes Moore said, “My heart goes out to all affected by this tragic accident in Federick.” He added that his office was monitoring the situation and was in contact with local officials.
County’s Division of Fire and Rescue Services posted news of the fire in a tweet at around 12:43 p.m. The incident led to calls for fire fighting assistance from multiple jurisdictions.
Spokesman for Montgomery County’s Fire & Rescue Service, Pete Piringer, which sent units to the blaze, said a Sheetz fuel truck carrying gasoline had overturned and ignited, starting the fire that engulfed a nearby house. Fuel also poured into nearby storm drains, he said.
Officials from the Office of the State Fire Marshal and the state’s environmental department were also responding to the scene.
A state police spokesperson said, Several other departments and bystanders posted photos and video on social media from the site, showing a massive fireball and column of smoke. By 3 p.m., traffic resumed flowing southbound on Route 15.
