The Independent National Electoral Commission has summoned 44 top INEC and 4 governors officials to 31 important foreign missions in Nigeria, which represent the best and most powerful democracies in the world over election rigging.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has been accused of rigging the 2023 presidential election internally, according to a civil society organization called International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law,
According to Leadership, four suspected conspiratorial state governors have also been brought before the 31 internationally regarded democracies for voter suppression, alleged INEC internal poll rigging, and severe rights violations.
The international democracies addressed in the letter include the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, Scotland, and Ireland as well as the head of the EU envoy to Nigeria and the ECOWAS.
Other nations include Australia, the Vatican, South Korea, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, Czech Republic, Portugal, Norway, Finland, Austria, Netherlands, Sweden, and Poland.
INEC’s national chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, and fourteen serving and recently-retired national commissioners of the commission—with their states of origin—are petitioned for their vicarious or direct liability in the letter by Intersociety. These individuals include Rtd. Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Mua’zu (Gombe), Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu (Delta), Dr. Adekunle Ladipo Ogunmola (Bayelsa).
Sam Olumekun from Ondo, Barr Festus Okoye from Anambra, Kunle Ajayi from Ekiti, Muhammad Kallah from Borno, Dr. Baba Bila from the North-East, Prof. Sani Adam from the North-Central, and Prof. Abdullahi Abdu from the South are also included (North-West).
These facts were included in a statement from Intersociety that was signed by an attorney and head of democracy and good governance, Chinwe Umeche, a criminologist, Emeka Umeagbalasi, and an attorney and head of campaign and publicity, Chidinma Udegbunam, among others.
