The Flying Eagles of Nigeria on thursday defeated Uganda to qualify for the U20 World Cup which is expected to take place in Indonesia later in the year.
The Ladan Bosso boys also advanced to the semifinals of the ongoing U20 African Cup of Nations on Thursday with a 1-0 victory over the Hippos of Uganda in the quarterfinals.
The Eagles advanced to the last four of the African age-grade championship in Egypt thanks to an own goal from Uganda’s Ibrahim Juma.
Senegal and Nigeria are the only two nations that have qualified for the World Cup, which will take place from May 20 to June 11.
The two teams will be joined by the winners of the two remaining quarterfinal matches between Gambia and South Sudan and Congo and Tunisia.
