The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has on Saturday stated the reason for his action of displaying his ballot paper to the public.
The President said he openly displayed his ballot paper to show his support for his party, the All Progressive Congress and the presidential candidate Bola Tinubu.
In the course of election preparation, there have been allegations that the Presidency does not want Tinubu to win and continue after Buhari.
The News Agency of Nigeria however reported that after Buhari performed his civic duties in Daura, his hometown in Katsina State, Northwest Nigeria, he publicly revealed his position as he displayed his ballot paper.
Buhari has said that the display of his ballot box is to further proof his commitment to the party and Tinubu.
Buhari, his wife and other family members who cast their votes at Ward A, Sarkin Yara Polling Unit 003.
He said, “All over the places, I mentioned my favourite candidate, Asiwaju Tinubu, and I believe my constituency will elect him 100 per cent.’’
However, Nigerians have said the President went against the electoral laws by displaying his ballot paper.
He expressed his Joy on how he had won as a president after several failures.
In his words, “I look at those who are competing, and some of them are so agitated, and they didn’t know that I tried three times and ended up in the Supreme Court three times.
“The fourth time I said ‘God dey’, and God sent technology, Permanent Voters Card, so no fraudulent person can claim anything.’’
