Voters have been unable to vote as officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission arrived late without result sheets at a polling unit in the Lagos State.
Residents were forced to wait for over three hours for the arrival of the INEC officials at polling unit 129, Oke-Afa/Ejigbo registration area of the Oshodi Isolo Local Government Area.
Speaking to Punch Metro, a voter(name withheld) revealed that the INEC officials arrived at the polling unit around 11:38 am.
However, to their greatest surprise, the officials did not come along with the result sheet, as such accreditation could not start.
Speaking to our correspondent around 11:26am before the arrival of the INEC officials, he said, “INEC officials never arrive for my polling unit but we dey here gather dey wait for them.[sic]
“I got here at 8:30am while some people got here around 8am.”
However, a few minutes after, he confirmed the arrival of the INEC officials.
“They have come ooo but there is no result sheet with them. They only come with the ballot box, BIVAS machine but no result sheet to record, so they can’t start accreditation or voting,” he said.
He added, “All their papers need to be completed before the accreditation starts, I did this job in 2019 as a presiding officer P.O in Abia State, so I understand the games. The result sheet is what they will submit at the LGA with the BVIAS and they must tally. Without the result sheet, all the process is in vain.”
