Commercial motorcyclists also known as ‘okada riders’, have taken to the streets in Akure, the Ondo State capital to protest the lingering naira crisis in the state and nation at large.
According to The PUNCH, the okada riders blocked the Oba Adesida Road at the well-known First Bank Roundabout while yelling numerous songs of support, resulting in a long period of heavy traffic.
Fearing an attack, all nearby commercial banks immediately ceased operations.
The distance between the protest location and the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Akure branch was less than 500 meters.
