Seun Kuti and Peter Okoye of the P-Square group have taken to social media to trade words over the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Kuti had in a recent video derided Peter, mocking him for fighting his twin brother.
He claimed that some politicians gave him money to support them in 2015, but he refused. However, he said that Peter has been busy eating from politicians since 2015 and attending their campaigns.
According to him, Mr P claim to know the solution to the problem being faced in the country. But the same Peter Okoye has dined and done shows for the rich men and politicians in the past.
His words;
“He hasn’t had the time because he started too late. You can’t be telling me that just because you lost PDP primaries 18 months before the election, you suddenly started a movement, and you have a plan for the country,” he said.
“No, that’s opportunism. And it’s not an opportunist that will deliver Nigeria—not jumping on Labour Party. The Labour Party has a socialist structure. Peter Obi is a capitalist. Where are they going?”
Reacting in a new post, Peter argued that Seun’s music is irrelevant.
According to him, if not for Seun’s father, Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti, who would have known him.
On Twitter, Peter took several shots at Kuti while asking him to manage his frustrations and comport himself.
“I understand your frustration but realize that the sky is big enough for all birds to fly. @burnaboy and other great artistes have climbed on our great Fela’s ladder to blow. Comport your self and pray to your god.
My God has blessed my destiny & i’ll 4ever remain thankful. I’ll surely keep you in my prayers. Learn from your nephew @Madekuti cos he is well guided and clean,” he said.
The bone of contention stemmed from the fact that during In an interview with the online platform Mic On podcast hosted by Channels TV’s Seun Okinbaloye, Mr Kuti noted that only the people of Nigeria could save this country.
