The Lagos State Government started a two-week training programme for town planners on the operation of drones to monitor unlawful land usage and other criminal dealings.
This training which is planned to train 50 town planners began on Monday February 6, 2033 and its slated to last for a period of two weeks.
The information about the initiation of the programme is contained in a statement made by the spokesperson of the state’s Physical Planning Permit Authority, Abimbola Umeh.
According to her, the learning and development programmes is aligned with the policy of the government on the usage and adoption of modern technology in governance and development issues.
She continued by saying that the training would improve the staff’s ability to efficiently oversee and enforce site inspections and instill etiquettes in their interactions with the general public.
As reported by EnviroNews Nigeria, the spokesperson quoted the General Manager of the agency, Mr Kehinde Osinaike, saying “the use and deployment of drones would facilitate effective town planning activities.”
It was reported that the participants were selected from 50 district offices of LASPPPA.
To ensure that all pertinent professionals were included in the training, Osinaike said that a the agency’s technical staff are attending the training.
