A late goal from Brighton’s sensational forward, Kaoru Mitoma, helped the seagulls secure a stoppage time win over Liverpool on Sunday at the American Express Community Stadium.
Liverpool took the lead in the 30th minutes after Elliott scored the opening goal of the game, the lead was cut short nine minutes later after Dunk equalized for the Roberto de Zerbi, led team.
While the game was heading for a draw, the Japanese winger, Mitoma, scored a sensational goal to end Liverpool’s run in the F.A cup.
It would also be recalled that Liverpool is yet to defeat Brighton this season, the last game between the two teams ended three goals to nil in favor of Brighton.
Reacting to the loss, Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, said he saw some encouraging signs from Liverpool’s display in the 2-1 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion.
He however stated that the team’s performance was not good enough to progress in the Emirates FA Cup.
“We came here to go through to the next round, with the game a couple of weeks ago in mind, which was pretty much rock-bottom of the performances we had in my time [here]. So that was better today, much better. But still, in the end, we concede two goals from set-pieces.
” We pretty much closed the gaps where they passed through last time, but around set-pieces that doesn’t help, so you have to do different stuff, so twice we were not close enough to avoid the goal. That doesn’t feel great, obviously. That’s not cool, but we have to take it”, he said.
