A Nigerian Naval officer identified as Lieutenant IS Ozuowa, has been reportedly abducted by yet-to-be-identified gunmen in Anambra State.
According to Sahara Reporters, it was also gathered that the gunmen abducted other unconfirmed number of civilians in the state.
The navy officer, who reportedly completed his “Long Course” on the Nigerian Navy Ship Ologbo on Friday, was kidnapped on Sunday night at the Upper Iweka Roundabout in Onitsha while on transit from Port Harcourt.
A military source stated “As at the time he was kidnapped, he sent a distress message to Slt Bomadi, the Ag BOO NOP ONITSHA.
“The Ag BOO quickly alerted its own troops stationed at various checkpoints along different exit routes from Onitsha.
“Also, our own QRF was deployed immediately. Efforts are ongoing to rescue the officer.”
When contacted the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said, “I don’t have such information before me please.”
