All flights in the US have been stopped because of a major computer problem that has left passengers stranded.
Following the computer breakdown, the Federal Aviation Administration instructed airlines to suspend all flight departures throughout the US until 9am (14:00GMT).
In a tweet, the organization stated that it was attempting to get its Notice to Air Missions System back online with all aircraft necessary to use it, including commercial and military flights.
The Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement: “The FAA is working to restore its Notice to Air Missions System.
“We are performing final validation checks and reloading the system now.
“Operations across the National Airspace System are affected. We will provide frequent updates as we make progress.”
All domestic flights had been momentarily delayed, according to United Airlines, which added that it would provide an update after hearing more from the FAA.
Travelers should expect significant delays due to the Air Traffic Control System Command Center.
