Some commuters plying the Ojota axis of the Ikorodu Road in Lagos State were forced to scamper to safety following unrest on Monday morning as the Yoruba Nation rally held.
Gunshots were said to have been heard while a vehicle was razed as seen in videos and photographs circulating on social media.
Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have however moved into the area to restore normalcy to the area to enable Lagosians to go about their daily business.
As of the time of filing this report, this publication can’t confirm if there were any casualties, nor can it confirm those behind the unrest.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, told our correspondent that the situation is under control and normalcy restored.
However, Hundeyin did not give full details of the incident but said that he is awaiting a report from the DPO of the area before making a public statement.
He said, “Normalcy has been restored to the area. I am awaiting further updates from the DPO covering that area so until I get that update, I can’t give you the details you need but normalcy has been restored.
“The number of casualties if any, with the people behind it and all of those things, I can’t give you now until I get a report but I will be getting it in a couple of minutes.”
