The Delta State Police Command have refuted claims that a patient at the hospital, identified as Dr. Uyi Iluobe was killed by relatives of a patient but by cultists.
PUNCH Metro had reported that Iluobe was murdered on December 31, 2022, with the Nigerian Medical Association claiming that the doctor was killed by the relatives of a late patient.
However, in a recent statement, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, noted that the act was carried out by suspected cultists.
The police spokesperson made this known on his Twitter handle on Tuesday, revealing that the NMA visted the state commissioner of police, Ari Alli, concerning Iluobe’s murder.
According to Edafe, the suspected cultists came into the hospital pretending to be patients and shot the doctor while he was attending to them.
He said, “The Nigerian Medical Association visits CP Delta over the murder of Dr Uyi Iluobe by suspected cultists who came into the hospital in Oghara pretending to be patients and shot him while he was attending to them.
“He was not killed by the family of any dead patient as being alleged, please.”
