The loss condemned the Antonio Conte led side to a fourth Premier League loss in seven games.
The win moves Villa within two points of the top half of the Premier League and increases the pressure on head coach Antonio Conte.
It also allows former Arsenal boss Unai Emery to extend his unbeaten record against Spurs to four games.
