The Federal Government has disclosed that it is planning to send the Child Labour Bill to the National Assembly.
According to The Vanguard, the Child Labour Bill seeks to stop engagement of under aged children in certain hazardous occupations and Processes as well as regulating the conditions of services of such children engaged in non-hazardous Occupations and Processes.
This was stated by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Kachollom Daju, in Abuja on Monday.
She also said that the mandate of the Ministry of Labour and Employment is not only handling of crisis between the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU and its employer as well as other unions.
She claimed that the ministry’s objectives are specific to human existence.
She contends that it is crucial for Nigerians to have a thorough understanding of the programs, initiatives, endeavors, and successes of the Ministry in the areas covered by its mandates.
She specifically stated that the ministry oversees workplace safety procedures and the general well-being of all employees in both private and public establishments across the nation.
