Gunmen have reportedly abducted a traditional ruler of Oso Ajowa-Akoko, in Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State, Clement Olukotun.
The monarch was abducted on Thursday night, the Cable reports.
The gunmen were said to have invaded the palace, shooting sporadically before they whisked away the monarch.
The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the development on Friday.
Odunlami said officers have been deployed to the area to rescue the monarch.
She said, “Our policemen are already there. We are working in collaboration with the community members and other agencies to ensure the victim is released unhurt and also arrest the perpetrators.”
