The Delta State Police have arrested one Godsgift Uweghwerhen, for allegedly beating his three-year-old daughter to death in Aladja community, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to PUNCH Metro, the suspect committed the act on Wednesday after the child allegedly entered his neighbour’s apartment.
The 25-year-old man reportedly flogged the baby who was said to have been sick for sometime with a cane and inflicted bodily injuries on her.
Uweghwerhen soon fled the scene on noticing that the young girl had died as a result of the beating.
However, he couldn’t run for long as the hand of the law caught up with him at Ubogo community near Aladja, as the Vigilante team in the area arrested him and consequently handed him over to operatives of the Nigeria Police in Ovwian/Aladja Division.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, by responding with a text, “confirmed”.
