The Regional Security Outfit, Amotekun, Oyo State Command, has said it retrieved four AK rifles, military camouflages and about sixty rounds of 7.62mm ammunition in a forest.
The retrieved weapons were said to have been abandoned by kidnappers operating in the undisclosed forest in the state, Vanguard reports.
Other items recovered were wraps of cannabis, a raincoat and two Nigerian Army caps and one beret.
The Oyo Commandant of Amotekun, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (rtd.), confirmed this on Sunday.
He said that his men’s hard work paid off last Saturday when the items were found in one of the forests. According to him, the weapons were retrieved following a tip that some gunmen were seen in one of the forests.
Olayanju also disclosed that companies have helped the men of the corps set up surveillance cameras for the operation.
The Amotekun boss also said that men from the security network are still in the forests looking for criminals.
