The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 34-year-old man, Iliya Adamu, who was said to have committed suicide.
According to The PUNCH, he was accused of stealing his brother’s N40,000 in a village in Girei, Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
His remains was found dangling on a tree in a nearby bush in the community.
According to reports, he committed suicide because he could not withstand being mocked and called a thief by his brother, who allegedly accused him of stealing N40,000 from a family safe.
His family was said to have launched a search for him in the community, after they couldn’t locate him.
His remains was said to have been found after two days, it was also gathered that a container of insecticide was found under the tree where his corpse was found.
Contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who confirmed the incident said, “The command is investigating the suicide.”
